This capital garden near the Dunes of Oostvoorne measures a whopping 3000 square metres. The owners were quite happy with the basic framework and the planting composition. But the garden was visually incompatible with the house. Some of the landscaping elements were not proportionate to one another, and the garden was lacking ambience. Erik van Gelder revitalized and enhanced the outdoor space, living up to the owners’ expectations, and with respect for the existing plants.
Cosy lounge area | Other requirements included a sustainable lighting plan, a lounge area near the pool, and seamless integration of the outdoor spa. Erik covered the lounge area with a custom-fit canvas sail: a high-tenacity and waterproof stretch tent. The sail brings vertical dimension to the garden, hence making the lounge zone a focal point. The table with built-in fire pit and integrated led light bathes gatherings in a romantic atmosphere.
Luxurious upgrade | We created a comfy wellness environment around the existing whirlpool. A wooden floor surrounds the built-in bath. The walls are covered in anthracite-coloured natural stone strips with a ridge in basalt tiles. Uplighters beautifully light up the shower wall.
Private oasis | The patio near the house was a bit dull. Erik added wooden flooring (Tablazz) to break the monotony, add warmth, and merge the outdoors with the architecture of the house. He planted roof-shaped mulberry trees in a layer of black beach pebbles, gracefully lit by led lights. Four water elements in stainless steel define the seating area.
XL gate | We gave the wooden gate a modern makeover, painting it in a matte anthracite colour. Two vast planters with multi-stem birch trees guard the gates. The aesthetically pleasing garden now satisfies the needs of its owners – mission accomplished.
