The demands for this renovation project in Middelburg were quite divers: clear, lavish lines in a modern style, a covered terrace for the lounge area, space for playtime, an area to dine and receive friends, low-maintenance vegetation, … In short, a versatile contemporary garden with a high comfort level. We got the job done to transform a vast area into a superb one.
Transition from house to garden | The original terrace was quite narrow and a little out-dated. We widened it and opened it up. He also integrated a skylight to allow natural light in. The central part of the floor is paved with anthracite-coloured tiles in Old-Dutch ‘Schellevis’; Greenwood decking covers the sides. The roofed terrace is sheltered and intimate, with beautiful views over the garden, inviting you to take a stroll and discover.
Lines, shapes and spaces | You reach the back of the garden through a stunning footpath, combining Greenwood decking with a grey finish, concrete slabs showing a striking geometric pattern, and Black Beauty gravel. Beautifully arranged plant groups and original decorative elements create a well-proportioned and inviting space, promoting harmony between nature and design.
Appropriate proportion and scale | The central part of the garden, opposite the terrace, combines elements with an industrial concrete look and sumptuous ornamental grasses, round box trees, moonlight lamps, sleek planters in zinc and aluminium, and lush evergreen shrubs. We created an optimum ratio between hardscape and bold architectural plants.
Aesthetically pleasing and functional | Our design meets both functional and aesthetic requirements. The terrace in Old-Dutch ‘Schellevis’ tiles with a large dining table, sun canopy and fireplace is the perfect setting to receive guests in style. You can laze in the hammock on the other patio. The lawn, including a rectangular-shaped trampoline, offers a delightful play area for the children. And on the waterfront area, partly shaded by a plane tree, you can unwind on the sunbeds.
