A somewhat out-dated villa in Brasschaat (Belgium) underwent a modern-day makeover. The now stunning contemporary home deserves an equally astonishing garden, designed by Erik van Gelder. The site measures a massive ten acres, mainly wooded area with lots of classically beautiful pine and oak trees. The garden’s showpiece is obviously the fabulous guesthouse – a statement of pure luxury.
Ultimate opulence | The owners asked Erik to construct a comfortably equipped guesthouse for a great time of leisure, including a wellness area and sauna. The long rectangle is edged in wood and glass, literally absorbing the green surroundings and affording superb views. The double-sided fireplace in the bedroom creates a sense of indoor-outdoor flow, through which you can view the swimming pool. The minimalist dining area with adorable Eames bucket chairs faces the wonderful windows, offering panoramic views of the garden.
Straight lines | The perfectly sized swimming pool uses hardwood and basalt stone tiles as flooring. The integrated led lights turn pleasant poolside evenings into magical moments. The elegant water cascade enriches the swimming pool design and softens the straight lines.
Leisurely lounge room | We also designed a clearly defined, covered outdoor lounge area as an extension of the house. The wooden flooring and ceiling add warmth, while the sleek lines and smooth texture of the walls makes it clean and serene. The Agapanthus or African lily with its bright purple flowers thrives in large patio pots – relaxing outdoor living at its finest.
